How Friendship Helps You Live Longer

As we all struggle with the new limitations the 2020 pandemic has placed on social interactions, it is more important than ever to find ways to keep up with friends and family. Recent studies have determined that, contrary to popular opinion, diet and exercise are not the the only critical factors in determining wellness and longevity, community also plays a huge role. Simply put, people with strong social connections live longer, happier, healthier lives than those who are more isolated.

When we preserve our bonds with friends who share common interests, we are more fulfilled, we feel safe and cared for and that, in turn, enables us to care for others.

What are you doing to maintain a community in your life right now during this difficult time? Here are a few suggestions:

*Call a friend you haven’t seen in a while to video chat

*Play an online game together,

*Set up a virtual bookclub with a group of friends where you can see everyone and chat about your summer reads,

*Get outside and take a hike or go kayaking .
