Visit a Farmers Market This Week

 

 

Are you looking for more was to feel your best so you can be your best this summer? One of my favorites is a weekly trip to the local farmer’s market. As I plan my week, I block off a couple of hours on Sunday morning. Lucky me: my local market is right near a beautiful river walk, so I can get my morning exercise in while the vendors are setting up!

 

I think of my farmers market as an opportunity to nourish my body with delicious, organic whole foods and support local organic farms at the same time. When I arrive, I walk the length of the market once, checking each booth for the most beautiful, vibrant foods, and then I walk it again to make my purchases. I never know what treasures I’ll find. One week it might be sweet local strawberries; another it could be tangy heirloom radish varieties. I bring home what appeals to me and eat it all week long until my next excursion.

 

By filling your kitchen with organic, whole foods (foods the way nature intended them) you can crowd unhealthy processed junk out of your refrigerator. Fill your space with beautiful, delicious foods that bring pleasure to the eye and the palate. The bonus: Your body knows what to do with these simple, digestible, nutrient-rich foods, processing the natural sugars easily when they are accompanied by so much fiber, leaving you feeling lighter and more energetic.
